His Journey in Cybersecurity
Dr. Lalit Gupta's journey in cybersecurity began in the late '90s. He entered the field with a vision to transform it from a reactive necessity into a strategic enabler of business growth and national resilience. As a founding member of CERT-In (India’s National Computer Emergency Response Team), he was instrumental in establishing the operational workflows, incident reporting mechanisms, and governance frameworks that are still in practice today.

His career has been marked by a focus on protecting not just systems, but lives, with experience across sectors like BFSI, FinTech, and aviation. What drives him is the firm belief that cybersecurity is no longer a siloed, technical function — it must be deeply integrated with digital transformation, compliance, and public trust.

He has always advocated for cyber-resilience to customers. His work is a constant reminder that even a small failure can have irreversible consequences, and he is driven to build resilience, not just security. Today, he focuses on the intersection of AI governance and security, ensuring that as we innovate with AI, we do so ethically and securely. He aims to help organizations evaluate and enhance their AI governance maturity and achieve ISO 42001 certification readiness.

Dr. Lalit Gupta's mission for cybersecurity in India is to build a digitally resilient nation through a blend of strategy, education, and execution. As President of the Cyber Security Council for India, he is dedicated to strengthening national cybersecurity frameworks and fostering youth empowerment. His vision is to promote a security-first mindset from the boardroom to the classroom, transforming cybersecurity from a technical niche into a national ethical duty.

To achieve this vision, he is focused on several key areas:
Policy and Advocacy: Collaborating with the government to shape regulatory frameworks that prioritize cybersecurity resilience.
Education and Awareness: Through initiatives like the Cyber Patriot Program, mentoring students and empowering the next generation to become cybersecurity leaders.
Enterprise Collaboration: Partnering with startups, enterprises, and regulators to ensure technology is implemented ethically and securely.
